I’ve been trying to get into fantasy again… there are sooo many books of this genre on my TBR shelves, but I can’t seem to last long before switching back to different genres. I used to consume fantasy novels. How tastes change as you grow and develop as a reader.
What genre has fallen out of favor for you?
I wouldn’t say it has fallen out of favor because I still read a few but YA fairy tale re-tellings got old pretty quickly for me. I felt like there were 20 Beauty and the Beast novels a few months ago. I am only curious maybe once, then I get bored.
I totally agree – there are at least 4 re-tellings on my TBR shelf that I gloss over whenever picking my next read because I’ve already consumed a number of similar titles… and there are more Beauty and the Beast re-imaginings slated for release in 2020. Oi Vey! I think the other genre that I have difficulty getting into is historical fiction, its very hit and miss with great books.
Human interest. I think it’s also called Contemporary Fiction. I don’t know if I just need more of an escape from reality or what but reading about divorces and cheating and family drama and whatnot kind of got old.
