This book wowed, surprised, and empowered me so much. That is saying a lot from a memoir written by a news host and journalist (now author.) I became an instant fan of someone I was only peripherally aware of; Tracey Spicer has inspired me to research even more memoir’s written by women navigating their way in a male dominated society and finding their voice.

Is there a female figure that has inspired you through a memoir or autobiography?

I’d had ‘Unraveling‘ on my TBR shelf for years, and as a part of my #BeatTheBacklist initiative to read books I already own (and complete series) I jumped into this alternate universe duology… a lot of sci-fi fun with warring factions.

What is the one book that has been on your TBR shelf the longest?

A post-apocalyptic start to a trilogy that was never completed in publication which I really enjoyed. It’s such a shame when series get abondoned. Alex Adams, if you’re out there, could you at least self-publish ebooks to complete the trilogy? This reader would appreciate it so much!

Are there any series that you loved that were never completely published?

I had the debut of this series sitting on my shelves for ages, then finally got around to reading about a ‘born yesterday’ teen android trying to navigate her way in the world. It was difficult to find the rest of the books in the series because it’s a bit old now but managed to track down some copies to complete the trilogy. A satisfying read for the younger end of the YA demographic.

I’ve had this collection on my TBR shelf for ages, so decided to complete the series as a part of #BeatTheBacklist… a fun YA Science Fiction story about teens with supernatural powers aimed at the younger end of the YA demographic. Just about to start the last book – can’t wait to see how the story ends. I have my theories.

I needed a new non-fiction memoir to break up my diet of science fiction, contemporary, and fantasy (paranormal) and what better way to add in some flavour that a book written by a comedian. I’m going into this blind, so I don’t know what to expect… do you pick up the odd book out of your favoured reading genres? Give some recommendations, I love finding a new read.

Finally finished this quartet early last year after constantly getting distracted by shiny new books. I’ve got the latest release ‘The Darkest Legacy’ following Zu on my TBR shelf ready to conquer soon… a dystopian world where kids have X-men type powers and labelled outcasts and threats. Such a great concept; pity the film adaptation didn’t get past the first book.
